Offer Sort Order - User Guide

What is Offer Sort Order?

The Offer Sort Order field allows you to control which offer gets applied first when a customer is eligible for multiple offers at the same time. This ensures that your most important or preferred offers take priority.

How It Works

  • Lower number = Higher priority
    • An offer with sort order 1 will be selected before an offer with sort order 2
  • Empty (not set) = Lowest priority
    • Offers without a sort order are considered last

Where It Applies

This feature works for:

  • Payment Offers
  • Cashback Offers (Tractor, Backhoe Loader, Harvester bookings)
  • AgroCare Cashback Offers

Setting the Sort Order

When creating or editing an offer, you can set the Offer Sort Order field with a number:

Sort Order ValuePriority
1Highest
2Second
3Third
......
Empty/Not SetLowest

Example Scenario

Suppose you have three active cashback offers for Tractor bookings:

Offer NameSort OrderResult
Diwali Special Cashback1Selected First
Monsoon Cashback2Selected if Diwali offer doesn't apply
Regular Cashback(empty)Selected only if no other offers apply

When a customer completes a booking that qualifies for all three offers, the system will apply the Diwali Special Cashback because it has the lowest sort order number (highest priority).

Tips for Using Sort Order

  1. Plan your priorities: Before setting sort orders, decide which offers are most important
  2. Use gaps in numbering: Set sort orders as 10, 20, 30 instead of 1, 2, 3 - this makes it easier to insert new offers in between later
  3. Leave promotional offers at top: Time-sensitive promotional offers should have lower sort order numbers
  4. Default offers last: Keep your standard/default offers without a sort order so they act as fallbacks

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: What happens if two offers have the same sort order? A: The system will use secondary criteria (like expiry date) to determine which offer to apply first.

Q: Do I need to set a sort order for every offer? A: No. Only set sort orders when you need to control priority among multiple overlapping offers. Offers without sort orders will simply be considered last.

Q: Can I use negative numbers? A: It's recommended to use positive numbers starting from 1 for clarity.

Q: Does changing the sort order affect existing transactions? A: No. Sort order only affects future offer selections. Already applied offers remain unchanged.
