This document defines the career progression framework for engineers at OX Infy. It covers levels, specializations, and progression guidelines.


2. Engineering Levels

4.3 Multiple Specializations

Engineers may have multiple specializations:

5. Level Expectations

L0 - SDE-Intern

  • Completes assigned tasks with guidance
  • Learns codebase and processes
  • Asks questions and seeks feedback

L1 - SDE-I

  • Delivers well-defined tasks independently
  • Writes clean, tested code
  • Participates in code reviews

L2 - SDE-II

  • Owns features end-to-end
  • Mentors interns and SDE-Is
  • Contributes to technical discussions

L3 - Senior SDE

  • Owns systems and leads technical decisions
  • Drives architectural improvements
  • Mentors junior and mid-level engineers

L4 - Lead SDE

  • Leads team technical direction
  • Manages delivery and quality
  • Builds team capabilities

L5 - Principal Engineer

  • Solves complex cross-team problems
  • Influences org-wide technical standards
  • Deep individual contributor

L6 - Product Engineering Lead

  • Drives product-level technical vision
  • Coordinates across teams and functions
  • Shapes engineering strategy

6. Progression Guidelines

6.3 Lateral Movement

  • Engineers can change specializations at any level
  • Requires demonstrated learning and competency
  • No level change required for specialization switch

6.4 Review Cycle

  • Performance reviews: Bi-annual (June and December)
  • Promotion eligibility: Annual
  • Specialization updates: Anytime with manager approval
