About the Role
The Lead SDE is a technical leadership position responsible for the overall technical direction of a product or domain. Lead SDEs combine deep technical expertise with leadership skills to drive engineering excellence, guide teams, and deliver high-impact solutions.
Responsibilities
- Define and drive technical strategy for the product/domain
- Lead architecture decisions and establish engineering standards
- Own delivery and quality of major technical initiatives
- Build and mentor a high-performing engineering team
- Collaborate with product, design, and business stakeholders
- Drive technical roadmap aligned with business goals
- Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of systems
- Represent engineering in cross-functional discussions
- Identify opportunities for innovation and process improvement
Requirements
- 6-9 years of experience in software development
- Degree in Computer Science or equivalent practical experience
- Expert-level proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks
- Proven experience in system design and large-scale architecture
- Strong track record of leading technical teams and projects
- Experience with cloud platforms and infrastructure
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to balance technical depth with strategic thinking

- Experience building and scaling engineering teams
- Background in agile/scrum leadership
- Prior experience in startup or fast-paced environments
